  • Continue to earn Loyalty Points

    When you Flex Pay your flight purchase with your eligible Citi®/AAdvantage® card, you continue to earn 1 Loyalty Point for every 1 eligible mile earned on that purchase. These points count toward your qualification for AAdvantage® status.

Citi® Flex Pay on American Airlines is a feature built-in to aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app for eligible Citi®/ AAdvantage® credit cards that allows you to pay for your American Airlines flight(s) over time in equal monthly payments at checkout.

To use Citi Flex Pay on aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app, simply select a flight worth $75 or more, select your eligible Citi®/ AAdvantage® credit card as your payment method, and choose the monthly payment option that works best for you in the Review and Pay page. After you book your flight, the full flight amount will be charged to your eligible Citi®/ AAdvantage® credit card and deducted from your available credit. However, only the monthly plan payment amount will be included as part of your minimum payment due at each billing cycle, and it will be reflected on your Citi®/ AAdvantage® credit card statement.

Only flight purchases made on aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app in US dollars, using your eligible Citi®/ AAdvantage® credit card, are eligible for Citi Flex Pay on aa.com or the American Airlines mobile app. Optional fees, including checked back, upgrades, and seat selection fees, will not be included in the Citi Flex Plan.

If your eligible Citi®/ AAdvantage® card currently earns miles on flight purchases, you will continue to earn miles for flight purchases made using Citi Flex Pay on aa.com. You will also continue earning Loyalty Points and miles on aa.com and the American Airlines mobile app as normal.

In most cases, refunds will be processed within 7 business days. If you get a refund on your American Airlines flight, a credit will appear on your Citi Credit Card account. Citi will apply the credit to your existing Citi Credit Card balance. If the refund is part of your Flex Pay on American Airlines and you would like the credit applied to your Flex Plan on American Airlines, call the number on the back of your card. Please see your Card Agreement for additional information on Merchant Refunds.
